We recently sat down with Ever to find out more about him and his journey.
"I was born in Honduras and moved to the United States in 2018. Currently, I'm in 11th grade at Northwood High School and want to go to college to become an English teacher.
I believe I can get to college if I continue to do my best every day and put in the effort, also to continue being supported by Liberty’s Promise and other super organizations. I have achieved being on the honor roll multiple times during high school, which for me is so important because it shows the person I am as a student and in life."
When asked about the impact his time with LP had made, Ever said:
"Liberty’s Promise helped me to understand how things work in the U.S as an immigrant and see what people are like. They help me identify all the opportunities that there are in this country.
LP has helped me a lot, I’ve been able to improve my English, collaborated with other immigrant students, and also gained leadership skills. My favorite memory of my time with Liberty’s Promise is being elected as the president of the CE-BELL program by my peers. It was a great experience and I really loved it."
We asked Ever if he had any words of encouragement for his peers and newly arrived young immigrants.
"If you are someone who just arrived in the United States, you should know that nothing is impossible. Do not feel lonely if you are a student whose first language is not English! Believe in yourself and if you need help, ask teachers and other students. We are here to support you. You are so intelligent and the only thing you need to be successful in school and life is believing in God and in yourself. Show to the world the greatness that there is in you and the person you are!"
