The Promise Fund

Did you know the national average High school graduation rate is 88%, for a young immigrant this number plummets to 74%?

Here at Liberty’s Promise, we believe this is unacceptable, and with the generous support of donors such as you, we’ve been fighting to change this for young people like Karen (below). Through participation in our programs, graduation rates have risen to 97%, with 53% of learners going on to post-secondary education.

Karen, Guatemala

Karen is an enthusiastic, intelligent and committed young woman who immigrated from Guatemala in November of 2018.

On coming to America

“There are so many changes you have to go through when you start a new life in the U.S. You must create a new home, new friends, everything changes.”

On her goals

“I want to graduate from a university and get everything I want to accomplish, like helping my mother.”

On Liberty’s Promise

“Liberty’s Promise has changed my perspective for the better.

Thank you Liberty’s Promise.”

With your support, we can help more young people like Karen.

We partner with 21 high schools across the DMV, supporting close to 800 immigrant youth like Karen each year. Our program provides them with an opportunity for career exploration, giving them the chance to discover the pathways and options for their education. Unfortunately, our programs are often over subscribed, restricted by the number of program facilitators available. A gift of $2,000 would allow us to provide an additional facilitator, supporting an extra 35 youth.

Our internship program, Opportunities Plus, is a huge hit with our students, like alumnus Octave, who interned with the Young Women’s Project.

“I hope that Liberty’s Promise continues to help immigrant students like me succeed. I will never forget the incredible work that Liberty’s Promise has done in my life.”

— Octave, Central African Republic

However, the placements are limited by available funds each year. A gift of $1,500 allows us to facilitate an internship for a young person with a local business, government agency, or community organization.

Your generous contribution goes directly towards supporting underserved immigrant youth. By pledging your support, you are advocating for change and making a direct impact. Every dollar counts and makes a tremendous difference to the lives of the young people we serve.

Will you join us in shaping the futures of young people like Octave & Karen?

How can you help?
