January Alumni Spotlight: Stefanny Guerrero (Wheaton High School)

Stefanny graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in May 2020. Stefanny has successfully completed her one-year nurse residency at Adventist Healthcare in their Cardiovascular Step-Down Unit. Most recently, she started working in their Joint Cardiac and Neurological Intensive Care Unit, where she is continuing to expand her nursing knowledge and practice by providing nursing care to the hospital’s most ill population.

Awa graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in Government & Politics and recently completed her Master's degree in International Development from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. Her focus was on migration and gender, which culminated with her writing a thesis on how the socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have made Gambian women and girls more vulnerable to exploitation by human traffickers.

November Alumni Spotlight: Marcos Moya (Gaithersburg High School)

Marcos received his Associate’s degree from Montgomery College and his Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management and Operations Management from The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He is currently working as a Transportation Manager at Amazon’s Headquarters in Seattle, Washington - responsible for developing programs to improve the transportation of packages within the Amazon network.
